Lost Creek State Park

Lost Creek State Park is not particularly large by Montana standards.  According to visitmt.com, the park is located in the Flint Creek Range a mere 6 miles from Anaconda and encompasses only 502 acres.  The acreage, though, scarcely describes the spectacular canyon you enter at the park’s gate.  A mix of granite and limestone formations upsurge 1,200 feet from the narrow canyon floor.  Huge boulders, Lost Creek, and a mixed forest fills the ever-squeezed canyon floor.

At the end of the road into the park, Lost Creek Falls can be found.  The falls cascades 50 feet down through a jumble cross-fall lodgepole pine and boulders.  A campground and trailhead is also located near the falls.

If you have never been to Lost Creek State Park, I suggest you add this one to your bucket list.
Posted today are a few photographs from a weekend visit to the park.

  2. Lost Creek is a surprisingly lovely place--though small by Western standards.
