Montana has plenty of
black bears. We also support the highest
density of grizzly bears in the lower 48 states. For that reason, anyone hiking in the
backcountry around here should learn to tell the difference between the two
bears. It’s fairly simple. If you bump into a bear and the bear starts chewing
off your arm, it’s a grizzly.
