Last night, I engaged (wittingly) in what
I call a CLC (career limiting conversation).
A CLC is first cousin to a CLM (career
limiting maneuver).
To my knowledge, my now deceased friend
John Bedard first identified CLMs. CLMs
are stupid ideas or clumsy moves.
CLCs are my devices. They are remarks better left unsaid. Following is a CLC from last night:
That Girl (rising from the
sofa and walking over to the bay windows):
“Let me see if I can find the
moon.”
Me: “I would suggest you might try looking in the
sky first. But if you find it elsewhere,
let me know.”
