Yesterday, with temperatures climbing up in to the sixties, a
bunch of us gathered down at the lakeshore for a midwinter session around the
fire ring. Though brisk winds prevailed
on the lake ice and across the elevated landscapes around us, we remained in
relative calm at the fire. The ice, while
melting on top, remains about eighteen inches thick.
Yesterday, in a single word: Perfect.
