Glen Campbell contributed
more to rock and popular music than most people realize. As a member of the famous “Wrecking Crew,” a
group of session musicians working from recording studio to recording studio in
Los Angeles during the 1960s, Campbell played with Phil Spector, The Beach Boys,
Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Merle Haggard, Jan and Dean, the Monkees, Elvis
Presley, and dozens more. Striking out
on his own, Campbell became an international success.
Campbell died yesterday
following an extended battle with Alzheimer’s.
Rather than playing one of Glen’s songs, I thought I would play a
tribute written and performed by his daughter.
The song is quite
touching.
