Last night, I walked down to the lake to celebrate the 4th
of July with the St. Clair clan. At dusk
we, and others all around the lake, started launching fireworks against the deeply
bluing sky. This lasted until well into dark.
As I ascended the hill at the end of our fireworks display, walking home
from the lakeshore, I heard muted popping from the entire valley around me.
When I reached the top of the hill, I saw the whole valley
sparkling with colorful bursts.
At several points, I stopped and spun around to take in the full
celebration.
Happy Birthday, America!
