Let’s start with naked.
I have been sleeping naked for
as long as I have been an adult. Turns
out, people like me who sleep in the raw report having satisfactory nights of
sleep at a rate over 20% higher than pajama sleepers.
On those rare occasions when I
try to sleep with something on, I feel as though I am twisting into a knot whenever
I turn over or shift position. My sleep
is definitely impacted.
And there is more. It appears 3:00 AM is the last possible hour
for successfully falling asleep. According
to an article written by Chris Melore: “If
you’re still awake when the clock hits 2:48 a.m., then there’s no point in
trying to get a good night’s sleep, a new study finds. A new survey of 2,000
Americans delved into respondents’ struggles with falling asleep.”
Sleeping with a partner can be
tricky. One partner may prefer a softer
mattress than the other. The choice of
bedding can vary between partners. And
there those cases where one person may snore or constantly flop about.
I have been told I appear to be
riding a bike in my sleep at times.
Most interesting is the matter
of room temperature (cold room versus warm room). According to the article:
“Warm room respondents were
more likely to enjoy hobbies like writing and dancing. On the other hand, those
who prefer a cold room for sleeping enjoy hobbies like gardening and watching
TV and movies — and were more likely to identify as funny and curious.
When it comes to their sleeping
habits, respondents who prefer a warm room are more likely to take naps, admitting
they’ll settle in for a snooze three times a week, compared to cold room
respondents, who only nap an average of twice per week.”
I am a warm room sleep and a
superior napper. For me, though, being naked
is the key to great sleep.
