Melissa drew a smile-girl with a huge grin and two ridiculously large hands—each hand nearly as large as her body.
Melissa invented a story as she
sketched a house and mountains around smile-girl.
Smile-girl liked shiny dimes and
nickels but didn’t like onions, and she was afraid of wolves. Her hands were so heavy she had to drag them
along like slain animals.
Smile-girl didn’t wash dishes
because of her big hands and she never wrote her name. When she clapped her giant hands, people
thought they were hearing thunder.
