Here is what a flash flood looks like when you are miles from away
from a place in the desert where heavy rains fell. Scouring its way down dry washes—sometimes for
many hours—the floodwater picks up sticks and logs and brush and anything else
that floats, becoming a debris flow.
There is no swimming out of this.
