Nikola Tesla, the electrical genius responsible for inventing our AC power distribution system, the induction
motor, remote control, the radio, and fluorescent lighting was inspired as a
boy to study electricity after receiving a strong static discharge while petting
his pet cat. He wondered, at the time,
if all of nature was like a big cat that might be stroked to produce energy. Before
getting zapped by his cat, Tesla wanted to be a poet.
