Independence Day

So, here we are at my house on Independence Day.  The local magpies are celebrating by bouncing across my concrete drive, squawking.  My cat has gone afield.  I am listening to music from the 1960s on Sirius XM.
On this day in 1986, a certain woman was celebrating her very first day as a naturalized citizen of these United States.  She, a refugee from war, had become a citizen during a ceremony at the Federal Courthouse in Butte, Montana, on July 3rd.
As luck would have it, that woman was my wife.
In spite of cold wet weather on that Independence Day, we had a great celebration out here at the lakeshore.  We gathered around a warming fire and sang God Bless America with friends and family.
Welcome, New Citizen!
That was a great celebration.  This shall be another (as all are).
Happy Birthday America!
