Something Is At the Back Door

The air didn’t feel right.  I notice something as soon as I woke and tossed my naked-self free of my bedding.
A deadness in the air.
I scooped up some clothes and scampered from my bedroom—half dressing along the way—to the back door of my house.
I could sense something was wrong outside.  Something was out there in the darkness.
Upon reaching the back door, I flicked on the outside light.
There!
Just outside my door…an actual snowdrift on my back deck.
